MARYVILLE, Tenn. (October 9, 2012) ― KenJo Markets, a BP Branded Marketer servicing BP stations throughout East Tennessee,  will be presenting a BP Fueling Communities donation of $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Blount County,  which will be used to purchase a bus as well as fix current buses provided by the Club. The check presentation will take place at the new Boys & Girls Club of Blount County facility located at 520 S. Washington St, Maryville at 4:00 pm on Wednesday October 10, 2012.

Currently the Club provides free transportation during the school year to the Club from Rockford Elementary; Alcoa Elementary, Middle, and High; Eagleton Elementary and Middle; John Sevier Elementary; Sam Houston Elementary; Foothills Elementary; and Montgomery Ridge Intermediate Schools. With the addition of another bus, the Club plans to expand services to another six school locations.

“Being able to offer this free transportation service is vital to our mission,” said Jeff Money, Executive Director Boys & Girls Club Blount County, Fort Craig Facility. “The generous BP Fueling Communities donation from KenJo Markets is giving us the opportunity to reach more kids and further deepen our impact on the youth in our community.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Blount County recently consolidated the Eagleton and Parkside Clubs into one Club located at the former Fort Craig Elementary School.  The new location will now allow the Club to serve even more young people in Blount County.  “The Boys & Girls Club is a tremendous organization and provides a great service to the youth of Blount County” said Wes Carruthers, President of KenJo Markets.  “We found out they needed another bus and are extremely excited to be able to help out with that need.”

Boys & Girls Clubs are open during hours when kids most need a place to go after school and all day during the summer.  The Club provides a safe, positive environment for young people, along with fun, supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations they may not receive otherwise, and recognition.  The programs offered increase academic success, encourage healthy lifestyles and encourage good character and citizenship among youth.
